EVN Macedonia continues its strong support for the international association MAKO SIGRE. This year, the company’s senior representatives and engineers took part in the 13th MAKO SIGRE Conference held in Ohrid — a key event for the country’s power sector that brings together participants to exchange ideas, innovations, and practical solutions.

The conference was officially opened by the Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Ms. Sanja Božinovska, who emphasized the importance of this event as a platform for discussing the latest reforms and achievements in the energy sector.
“In times of profound transformation — decarbonization, digitalization, decentralization, and market integration — such forums are of priceless value. Let this conference mark the beginning of new initiatives, strengthened projects, and lasting coordination among all stakeholders,” she stated.

During the opening session, Mr. Wolfgang Maier, Chairman of the Management Board of EVN Macedonia, highlighted:
“The modernization of the distribution network today is more than an infrastructure challenge — it requires an innovative approach to the growing integration of renewable energy sources and storage through large battery systems (BESS). Our commitment extends beyond infrastructure. Every day, we work to improve services for our customers, with a strong focus on digitalization and innovation.”
Mr. Sašo Saltirovski, President of MAKO SIGRE, also addressed the participants, stating:
“Today we stand at a historic crossroads. Around the world, the energy transition is no longer a distant ambition — it is today’s necessity. The way we produce, deliver, and consume electricity is transforming at unprecedented speed. From renewable sources and e-mobility to digital technologies and decentralized energy systems — the future of energy is being shaped before our eyes.”

Around 70 employees from EVN Macedonia took an active role, presenting professional papers on various energy-related topics before the Study Committees. The event gathered high representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, the Energy Regulatory Commission, EVN Macedonia, Elektridistribucija, MEPSO, ESM, and numerous other companies from the energy sector.
