High representatives of EVN Macedonia actively participated in the 14th International Forum on Energy For Sustainable Development, that was held this year in Skopje under the theme "From Goals to Action: Powering the Future with Sustainable Energy". The event was organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources in cooperation with UNDP Macedonia and the five UN regional commissions.

The Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Ms. Sanja Bozhinovska, delivered an opening statement and emphasized: "Energy resilience today means the ability of the system to withstand, adapt and continue to function, even in conditions of uncertainty and geopolitical upheaval."

The three-day forum brought together over 500 participants from 70 countries, including representatives of governments, international organizations, financial institutions, as well as experts and representatives from the business community.

The CEO of EVN Macedonia, Mr. Wolfgang Maier addressed the public during the session dedicated to “Financing Renewable Energy: The Business Perspective”. He pointed out that there is no green transition without strong, smart and modern distribution grids. “We cannot build a green energy future on a 20th-century grid. Upgraded and modern grids are essential to integrate renewable energy, but it comes with a very high cost. Therefore, international funds, soft loans and stable regulatory framework are crucial to make needed investments feasible.”

Mr. Berkant Shen, manager at EVN Makedonija Elektrosnabduvanje spoke about EVN's role in the development of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country, which directly contributes to the acceleration of electric mobility and environmental protection.

The focus of this year's leading global platform for advancing sustainability is on the energy transition, new technologies and markets, energy production, and international cooperation for energy security.
