The transition to the "Green Agreement" requires a technical and financial plan

EVN fully supports the transition of the energy sector and the implementation of the "Green Agreement" in the country and gives its contribution. But, in order to successfully realize this process, it is not enough to have only a goal, it is necessary to have a plan on two levels, technically and financially, said Stefan Peter, Chairman of the Management Board of EVN Macedonia, at the conference "Mapping energy future - 2021 ", which took place today in Skopje.

The main topic of the conference is the implementation of the "Green Agreement" of the European Union, which foresees that by 2050 all energy will come from renewable sources.

At the panel on "Comprehensive approach to the transition to clean energy", Peter said that if we want to meet this goal and implement the steps for the transition of the energy system to the principles of the "Green Agreement", in addition to a precise technical and financial plan, is also the preparation of the grid, which is more than 100 years old and has no possibility of two-way, so that the energy is only delivered to the users, but they can not return and sell the surplus that they create.

Among other things, in his speech, Peter underlined: "The transition to energy from water, sun and wind is an important process, which requires serious funding and we should immediately start working on proper information on all aspects of this complex process, because we will all pay the price for its realization. At the same time, we should pay attention to creating a system that will be based on balanced energy because we need continuous sustainability. Namely, I like to cook and watch TV even when the wind is not blowing, and for that we need to provide balanced energy sources."

Considering the experience of EVN in several countries, the company has already implemented several projects that have created solid preconditions for this great transition. The company is working to raise awareness of energy efficiency, and is one of the first companies to create infrastructure for greater use of electric vehicles in the country. EVN built a system of 50 electric chargers, which enable greater electro-mobility in the country.

Besides Peter, at the panel entitled "Comprehensive approach to the transition to clean energy" spoke the General Manager of "ESM" Vasko Kovachevski, who presented projects for the use of renewable energy sources that will contribute to meeting the criteria of the "Green Agreement" ", And in the long run will provide the country with energy independence.

The Director of MEPSO spoke about the implemented and planned projects in the field of transit high voltage infrastructure and connection with neighboring countries, in order to build a larger number of energy corridors.
