Tariff System

According to the decision of the Energy and water services regulatory commission for the Universal supplier, certain changes are introduced in the tariff system for electricity consumption from 01.07.2022. In order to transparently inform you where the total amount of the electricity invoice comes from, we have put detailed information on the back of the invoice about your consumption, but also about the way in which the consumed kilowatt hours are charged in high and low tariff.

In the electricity invoice you can find separate calculations about the:

  • Consumed electricity
  • Transmission and distribution system fee

The consumed electricity is divided by:

  • Consumption in high tariff
  • Consumption in low tariff

The price for the electricity consumed in the low tariff is 1,7522 denars for kWh, regardless of the amount consumed.

For the households, as a separate category of consumers, the total amount of electricity consumed in high tariff is divided into blocks of consumption, and each block has a different cost.

The blocks of high tariff consumption, where the meter reading period is 30 days, are as follows:

Block 1: from 0 kWh to 210 kWh
Block 2: from 211 kWh to 630 kWh
Block 3: from 631 kWh to 1050 kWh
Block 4: from 1051 kWh and above

For example: If the customer has consumed 700 kWh in the high tariff, in a period of 30 days, the amount will be divided as follows:
Block 1 (0 – 210): 210 kWh
Block 2 (211 – 630): 420 kWh
Block 3 (631 – 1050): 70 kWh
Total: 700 kWh

The total price for the electricity consumption is a result of the consumed electricity amount in each block multiplied by the cost that applies to that block. The cost for each block is as follows:

  • Cost per kWh in Block 1: 4,2255 denars
  • Cost per kWh in Block 2: 5,2720 denars
  • Cost per kWh in Block 3: 6,9121 denars
  • Cost per kWh in Block 4: 17,3242 denars

Additional explanation of the blocks, depending on the meter reading period
The blocks presented above apply to a monthly, 30 day consumption period. If the meter reading period is not 30 days, and is shorter e.g. 29 days, or longer e.g. 32 days, than the blocks expand or decrease accordingly.

In this expansion or decrease of the blocks, the average daily consumption is considered as fixed. The average daily consumption is a result of the average monthly (30 day) consumption divided by the number of days. The average daily consumption for each block is as follows:

  • Block 1 (0 – 210): 210 kWh : 30 days = 7 kWh/daily
  • Block 2 (210 – 630): 420 kWh : 30 days = 14 kWh/daily
  • Block 3 (630 – 1050): 420 kWh : 30 days = 14 kWh/daily

Therefore, for a meter reading period of 28 days, the block will be as follows:

  • Block 1: 28 days х 7 kWh/daily = 196 kWh; therefore Block 1 (from 0 kWh to 196 kWh)
  • Block 2: 28 days х 14 kWh/daily = 392 kWh; therefore Block 2 (from 197 kWh to 588 kWh)
  • Block 3: 28 days х 14 kWh/daily = 392 kWh; therefore Block 3 (from 589 kWh to 980 kWh)

Transmission and distribution fee

The compensation for using the transmission and distribution system is a product of the consumed electricity and the tariff for transmission and distribution, with an additional grid access fee, according to the Decision of the Energy and water services Regulatory Commission.
